Supreme Court

The Supreme Court, on Monday, reserved its judgment in the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi’s appeal seeking to nullify President Bola Tinubu’s election.

A seven-member panel of the Supreme Court led by John Okoro made the announcement after taking arguments from lawyers to the parties on Monday.

Justice Okoro said, “This appeal is reserved for judgment until a date to be communicated to parties.”
When the matter came up on Monday, lead lawyer to Obi, Livy Uzoukwu (SAN), urged the apex court to allow his client’s appeal.

He also prayed the court to set aside the judgement of the Presidential Election Petition Court (PEPC) in Abuja which upheld Tinubu’s election on September 6.

But the lead lawyer to President Tinubu, Chief Wole Olanipekun (SAN), informed the apex court that Obi’s suit lacked merit.
Olanipekun further urged the court to dismiss the appeal.

The lead lawyer to the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Akin Olujinmi (SAN), asked the apex court to uphold the judgement of the PEPC, affirming Tinubu’s election.
