The Emir of Kano, Aminu Ado Bayero, has urged the First Lady of Nigeria, Mrs Oluremi Tinubu, to inform her husband, President Bola Tinubu, that the level of suffering in the country has increased, saying that Nigerians are hungry.
Bayero stated this when he hosted Remi Tinubu in his palace in Kano on Monday.
According to the royal father, the First Lady is in a leading position to inform the President (her husband) about the concerns, hunger, and instability that the people are facing.
He said, “Although we have several means of communicating to the government on our needs and requests, your way and means are the surest way to tell the president the actual happenings in the country.”
“The hunger and starvation, though didn’t start with this government, but the situation has become more alarming and needs urgent attention.
“The issue of insecurity is another serious problem we are facing. I know your government inherited it, but something more seriously should be done to address the situation.”
The Emir of Kano also raised some questions over the propriety of the relocation of the Headquarters of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) and some units of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), from Abuja to Lagos, saying there is need for explanations over the movement.
He said, “We are receiving a series of messages from our people. One such message is the much-talked-about relocation of CBN and FAAN to Lagos.
“I think the government should come out clean on this matter and talk to Nigerians in the language they would understand.
“Do more enlightenment on this matter. I for one cannot tell the actual intentions of the government. We should be made to actually understand why the relocation of the CBN and FAAN offices to Lagos.”
The Federal Government had recently disclosed that FAAN headquarters and some units of the CBN had to be relocated from Abuja to Lagos in order to save money.
