The presidential candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu, on Tuesday, made a gaffe during the flag-off of his presidential campaign in Jos, Plateau State.

Gaffe is an unintentional act or remark, causing embarrassment to its originator. It is a blunder, error or slip by a person. A gaffe is mistake that embarrasses someone in the presence of others

Party faithful and supporters had converged at the venue of the campaign rally at the Rwang Pam Township Stadium in Jos.

The incident, which is trending in the social media, occurred when Tinubu, who was concluding his speech, mistakenly said: “God bless PD…” But he quickly corrected himself and said “God bless APC.”

“God bless APC. God bless APC. APC. God bless APC. We will have the victory. God bless you,” he added.

Speaking at the rally, the APC National Chairman, Senator Abdullahi Adamu, said there was the need for the party to put in hard work to win the 2023 elections

He said, “The right of a party to remain in office is not cast in stone. I emphasise hard work; I understand the need to work together.

“The achievements of President Muhammadu Buhari have surpassed his predecessors. In his seven years in office, our roads, airports have been transformed.”

Also speaking at the event, the Senate President, Ahmad Lawan said opposition parties that want to compete with the APC have nothing to say.

He said, “Mr President, you are a hero of infrastructural development in Nigeria. Our next president will build on that. Those that want to compete with us have nothing to say. PDP had a few projects with more resources.

“For 16 years, the Plateau was not home of peace. But from 2015 when Lalong was elected, Plateau started experiencing peace.”
