President Bola Tinubu has removed Mr Solomon Arase from his current position as the Chairman, Police Service Commission (PSC) and approved the appointment of Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Hashimu Argungu (rtd) as the new Chairman of the PSC.

Arase, the former Inspector-General of Poice (IGP) was appointed by former President Muhammadu Buhari as the Chairman of the PSC on January 24, 2023 while Buhari inaugurated him on Aprial 29,2023 after his confirmation by the Senate.

Tinubu also approved the appointment of Chief Onyemuche Nnamani as Secretary and DIG Taiwo Lakanu (rtd) as Member of the Commission.

The Spokesman to the President, Ajuri Ngelale, stated this in a statement made available to TheIdeal News on Monday

Ngelale added that the appointments are subject to confirmation by the Senate.

According to him, other members of the Police Service Commission will be appointed in due course.

Furthermore, the President has approved the appointment of Mr. Mohammed Sheidu as the Executive Secretary of the Nigeria Police Trust Fund (NPTF) with immediate effect.

The statement reads in part, “The President expects absolute demonstration of integrity, diligence, and patriotic zeal in the discharge of these important functions for the overall wellbeing of the Nigeria Police and the nation.
