Barely 72 hours after the Managing Director of an Enugu based popular Auto Ease, a vehicle body repair outlet, Mr. Ifeanyi Okeke was killed by unknown gunmen, the state has recorded another killing of a top ranking official by unidentified gunmen.

Our correspondent gathered that the Director General of Scientific  and Equipment Development Institute (SEDI) Enugu, Prof Samuel Ndubuisi and his police orderly were killed when unidentified gunmen opened fire on his car along Enugu, Port Harcourt Expressway

Incidentally, the Wednesday killing marked the second killing under three days in the state.

Our correspondent reports that Ndubuisi along and his police orderly were killed along the Centenary City Junction axis of the Enugu-Port Harcourt Expressway .

The driver of the vehicle was said to have sustained injuries and had to be taken to an undisclosed hospital for medical attention.

Unconfirmed reports have it that the daughter of Ndubuisi, who was in the car when the incident happened, was abducted by the assailants.

Ndubuisi hailed from Mgbowo in Awgu Local Government Area of the state.

When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Enugu State Command, Mr Daniel Ndukwe confirmed the incident.

Ndukwe, however, said that information concerning the incident was still sketchy at press time.

According to the PPRO, the incident happened at about 1600hrs.

Ndukwe said: “Information surrounding a shooting incident today, 07/07/2021 at about 1600hrs, along Enugu-Port Harcourt Expressway, said to have led to the death of a man and his police orderly is still sketchy.

Theideal recalls  that  about two months ago, a former Judge of the Enugu State High Court, Justice Stanley Nnaji, was also  murdered in a cold blood by unknown gunmen in Enugu.
