• Incumbent Gov Oyetola loses to Sen Adeleke

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), on Sunday morning, declared the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Senator Ademola Adeleke, as the winner of Osun State governorship election.

Declaring the Adeleke as the winner of the election, the Returning Officer and the Vice Chancellor of the University of Lagos (INEC), Prof Oluwatoyin Ogundipe, stated that Adeleke obtained the highest number of votes from 17 out of the 30 local governments in Osun State to defeat incumbent Governor Gboyega Oyetola, who won in 13 Local Government Areas.

He added that Adeleke polled 403, 371 votes to emerge as winner while his closest rival from the All Progressives Congress (APC), Oyetola, secured 375, 027 votes.

The PDP won in Ede North Local Government, Ede South, Ifelodun, Boluwaduro, Egbedore, Odo Otin, Osogbo, Ila, Atakumosa West, Olorunda, Ilesa West, Obokun, Oriade, Orolu, Ife North, Irepodun and Ejigbo.

But the APC won in Boripe, Ilesa East, Ayedire, Ifedayo, Ife Central, Ayedaade, Iwo, Olaoluwa, Isokan, Atakumosa East, Ife South, Ife Central and Ife East.
