Veteran Nollywood actor, Olusegun Akinremi, popularly known as Chief Kanran, has died barely weeks to his 70th birthday.
The news of his death broke on Friday when movie producer, Seun Oloketuyi, announced in an Instagram post that the actor passed away earlier in the day.
“Popular actor Segun Remi popularly known as Chief Kanran died Friday morning,” he wrote.
Chief Kanran, whose career spanned stage and screen, was admired for his exceptional delivery, witty humour, and charismatic presence.
Over the years, he built a loyal following through roles that blended entertainment with deep cultural storytelling, earning him respect both within and outside the Yoruba movie industry.
His performances often carried the weight of tradition and the lightness of comedy, a balance that made him a household name for decades.
