Former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello has declared that President Bola Tinubu will not need to campaign in Kogi for the 2027 presidential election.
Bello made the assertion on Saturday during an All Progressives Congress (APC) rally in Kogi, insisting that the ruling party remains unrivalled in the North-Central state.
The ex-governor described Kogi as an impregnable bastion of the APC, stressing that President Tinubu commands massive grassroots support across the state.
He said, “Your Excellency, Mr President, you don’t even need to come to Kogi state to campaign in 2027. Don’t do any wahala [trouble] that you want to come to Kogi State to campaign for a second term. There is no opposition in Kogi State.
“Those who are making noise somewhere have not seen the lion. Congratulations Mr President. Every great nation must have a leader that everybody can gravitate towards.
“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, you are that leader that all of us shall gravitate towards even after your second term in office.”
Bello also lauded President Tinubu’s leadership style, applauding his administration for strengthening national security, expanding infrastructural development, and improving revenue allocations to states.
“We thank Mr President for everything he has done for us in Kogi: appointments, infrastructure, fighting insecurity, more money and the rest,” he said.
The former governor, who served between 2016 and 2024, also threw his weight behind both President Tinubu and Kogi State Governor, Usman Ododo, for re-election .
As political momentum builds toward the 2027 polls, several influential APC figures have already pledged their loyalty to Tinubu’s second-term ambition.
Only recently, Niger State Governor Umar Bago publicly declared himself as the Director-General of the president’s 2027 re-election campaign.
Bago also lambasted politicians resisting the continued southern presidency, urging them to honour Nigeria’s unwritten principle of power rotation.
